    Hi everyone,

Some users have reported network connectivity problems when using CellSpin on Blackberry phones. Here are some troubleshooting tips to help with these issues.

Q: When I try to login, I see an error: "The application CellSpin has attempted to open a connection outside your firewall which is not allowed by your IT policy."

A: If you are on BES (Blackberry Enterprise Server), it is possible that your IT administrator has set a policy to prevent applications from opening external connections. Please contact your BES administrator and ask him or her to enable the "Allow Split Pipe Connections" policy.

If you are on BIS (Blackberry Internet Service), your firewall is probably enabled, preventing CellSpin from opening external connections. Go to Options -> Security Options -> Firewall, and select "Reset Firewall" or "Reset Settings" from the menu. If this does not resolve the problem, disable the firewall entirely by selecting "Change Option" from the menu and choosing "Disabled."

Q: When I try to login, I see an error: "network error, please try later."

A: Check your TCP settings (Options -> Advanced Options -> TCP). If they are empty, then they have not been configured automatically by your service provider, and you will need to enter the correct settings yourself. You can determine the correct values either by contacting your service provider or by referring to online forums for information. The following two posts may prove useful in this regard:

    http://blackberryforums.pinstack.com/360-tcp_apn_wap_gateway_port_carrier.html

After configuring your TCP settings, choose "Save" from the menu and reboot your Blackberry by removing and reinserting the battery.

If you've configured the TCP settings and you are still experiencing this problem, then the CellSpin application permissions may be preventing it from accessing the network. Edit the application permissions by navigating to Options -> Advanced Options -> Applications, selecting CellSpin from the applications list, and selecting "Edit Permissions" from the menu. Change the Connections setting to "Allow" (you may also want to allow Interactions and User Data), and select "Save" from the menu.
